A new Wawa convenience store and gas station in Newtown Township is expected be built soon.

Supervisor John Mack revealed during a public meeting on Wednesday that plans are moving forward with construction anticipated to start soon.

Provco Pinegood Newtown LLC, the project’s developer, has plans to erect a 5,585 square-foot Wawa store along with six fuel pumps on a 4.95-acre plot situated at the bustling intersection of the Newtown Bypass and Lower Silver Lake Road.

The announcement follows a June 2023 report by NewtownPANow.com reporter Chris English, which detailed the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors’ settlement agreement with Wawa. The settlement came after a legal battle over the proposed development between the township and the convenience store company.

Mack disclosed in his regular YouTube series on Monday that Wawa has agreed to install solar panels on the two sides of the gas pump canopy.

The proposed Wawa has been a controversial topic within the township for years.
