The Newtown Township Parks and Recreation Department has announced the rescheduling of its “Touch A Truck” event.

The event was originally planned for Thursday, but has been moved to to Monday, April 1 due to a rainy weather forecast. The family-friendly event is set to take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Veterans Park at 234 Durham Road.

The event is free and open to the public.

“Touch A Truck” provides an educational opportunity for children to explore, touch, and climb aboard various vehicles. The event will feature trucks from Newtown Township Public Works, Leck Waste Services, SEPTA, Newtown Ambulance Squad, Newtown Township police, Newtown Fire Rescue, the U.S. Postal Service, and others.

Attendees will learn about the functions and operations of the vehicles, and children will even have the chance to press some of the horns.

Event organizers recommend wearing noise-cancelling headphones for those sensitive to loud sounds.

The entrance to Veterans Park from Durham Road will be closed. Attendees are advised to use the Wrights Road entrance instead. Newtown Elementary School is designated as an overflow parking lot.
