Site work is quickly progressing on the new Wawa convenience store and gas station located along the Newtown Bypass.

The 4.95-acre site at the corner of Newtown Bypass and Lower Silver Lake Road has been completely cleared. Grading work was spotted as being underway during a recent visit by this news organization.

Construction at the property began late last month.

Upon completion, the store will span 5,585 square feet and include six fuel pumps.

Wawa has committed to installing solar panels on the gas pump canopy, Supervisor John Mack said earlier this year.

The project stems from a 2023 settlement between the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors and Wawa, which resolved a legal dispute over the site’s development.

The development has been a contentious issue in the community for years, igniting debates over traffic, environmental impact, and local business.
