With the snip of a pair of scissors, The Capital Grille officially opened on Monday afternoon in the Village at Newtown Shopping Center.

The new 200-seat restaurant, which is located off Eagle Road, marks the brand’s first foray into Bucks County. It opens as the company is expanding its presence beyond major cities.

Michael Callahan, a Warrington Township native and managing partner of the new location, was on hand to cut the ribbon and oversee operations along with a chef partner.

“We’re about connecting with our guests and building relationships. And there’s a demand for a higher-end steakhouse with great food,” he said.

Callahan, who worked his way up from a bus boy at the company, and his team presented a $10,000 check to the United Way of Bucks County as the eatery opened.

Representatives from Visit Bucks County, the Lower Bucks County Chamber of Commerce, and the Newtown Business Association attended the ribbon-cutting and following tasting event.

The establishment will provide approximately 60 jobs and features three private dining rooms designed for events and parties.

Spanning 8,500 square feet in the old Pier 1 Imports, the Newtown Township location features a main dining area that showcases the restaurant’s décor elements, including an open kitchen and clocks of the world.

“The response from the community has been amazing. People are super excited,” said Juliana Chapman, a sales manager at The Capital Grille.

She highlighted that the restaurant also features a bar larger than most other locations and is adorned with local artwork and photos from around the Newtown area, as well as depictions of Philadelphia athletes and celebrities.

The location has an in-house butcher and pastry chef to ensure quality food, according to Callahan.

The Capital Grille is owned by Darden Restaurants, which also runs Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Olive Garden Italian Restaurant, Bahama Breeze, Yard House, and other brands.
