The Council Rock Newtown Athletic Association’s Little League 12-and-under baseball team received special recognition from both the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and the Senate this week.

The boy and their coaches traveled to Harrisburg after their run in the Little League World Series.

The team, which hails from the Newtown area, boasted a remarkable 20-2 season record, clinching the District 30, Pennsylvania, and Mid-Atlantic region tournaments.

The team’s wins earned them a spot as one of ten U.S. teams in the Little League World Series held in Williamsport. They won two of their games before being defeated from the series.

State senators Steve Santarsiero, a Democrat, and Frank Farry, a Republican, and state represenatives Perry Warren, a Democrat, and Kristin Marcell, a Republican, hosted the champions. Each of the state legislators represents the home of players on the team.

Warren praised the team’s efforts, noting his personal attendance at two games and viewership of others on national television.

“The entire community is proud of the players and coaches,” Warren said.

Santarsiero commended the team’s demonstration of “impressive talent, determination, and sportsmanship.”

“It was an honor to welcome the Council Rock Newtown Little League team to the Capitol,” Marcell said. “Their hard work, determination and sportsmanship during their incredible run to the Little League World Series have made our community proud.”

“It was great to see our community come together to cheer on these talented young athletes. I want to congratulate the entire team, coaches, and their families on a remarkable and unforgettable season,” Farry said.
