The owner of St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown Township has announced a new regional president and CEO.

Trinity Health announced that Andre “Dre” Boyd Sr. will take over as the new regional president and CEO of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic and Holy Cross Health in Maryland starting January 6.

Boyd’s appointment follows a nationwide search to replace James L. Woodward, the outgoing president and CEO of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, and Doug Strong, interim CEO of Holy Cross Health.

“I am very honored to have been selected to lead two amazing ministries within Trinity Health. Trinity Health’s Mission, vision and core values truly resonate with me as a servant leader. In addition, I am very impressed by the amazing work that has been done in the Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic and Holy Cross Health ministries to provide high quality care for the communities they serve,” Boyd said. “I look forward to working with the Boards, leadership teams, physicians and team members to continue to enhance quality, patient safety and service for ALL patients within those communities “

Boyd comes to Trinity Health having most recently served as the chief operating officer of The Christ Hospital Health Network in Cincinnati, a $1.3 billion healthcare system.

Prior to that, Boyd was the executive vice president and CEO at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina, an affiliate of Novant Health. His leadership has earned him notable recognition, including being named one of the 10 Best COOs in 2020 by Industry Era Magazine and Senior Healthcare Executive of the Year in 2019 by the National Association of Health Services Executives.

Boyd, a graduate of Nicholls State University, holds a Bachelor of Science degree and earned his Master of Healthcare Administration from the Tulane School of Public Health.

“Dre brings an exceptional background in health system operations and a successful track record in growth and quality. We are excited to welcome him to this new regional role leading two of our ministries located in the Mid-Atlantic states,” said Trinity Health Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ben Carter. “We will leverage the shared expertise and synergies within these markets to strengthen operations, access, clinical programs and service line growth.”

Carter also took the opportunity to thank the outgoing executives for their dedication and service.
