A home that is part of Washington Crossing Historic Park avoided serious damage when a tractor-trailer overturned and struck it.

The crash happened early Monday morning in the 1600 block of River Road in Upper Makefield Township between Piddcock Creek and Lurgan Road, just feet from the border with Solebury Township.

“Fortunately, no one was injured and the house only sustained minor damage,” police said in a Facebook post.

The driver stated, according to police, that the truck went off the road and overturned after he swerved to avoid a deer.

The crash was under investigation by police.
