Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick was one of several Republican lawmakers to meet with President Donald Trump on Wednesday.
Fitzpatrick, Congressman Don Bacon, of Nebraska, and Congressman Mike Lawler, of New York, met the president who began serving his second term at noon on Monday.
The Hill reported that the three lawmakers represent districts won by former Vice President Kamala Harris in November.
While Trump won Bucks County for the first time in 2024, Fitzpatrick’s First Congressional District, which covers all of Bucks County and part of Montgomery County, has gone for Hillary Clinton, former President Joe Biden, and most recently Harris.
Fitzpatrick’s office didn’t return a request for comment or an interview from this news organization. NBC 10 reported the congressman’s office also didn’t respond to them.
A White House press pool report dispatch from Wednesday afternoon stated that Bacon, Fitzpatrick, and Lawler stopped by the press briefing room.
When asked by a New York Post reporter about the meeting, Fitzpatrick said he wanted to keep the meeting private.
“The lawmakers quickly departed as more reporters descended upon them,” the White House pool reporter said in their dispatch.
Bacon told The Hill that Trump liked to meet with lawmakers.
“Without us three, we’d have a Democrat Speaker,” Bacon told the publication. “So, we’re proud of that, we helped keep the majority, the three of us.”
Trump has signed a large number of executive orders since becoming president just days ago as part of his sweeping vision to rework the federal government. The president needs the support of lawmakers to get legislation passed in the U.S. Capitol.
