Upper Makefield Township is receiving state money to improve a historic streetscape.

State Sen. Steve Santarsiero, a Democrat, announced the township will receive $575,000 for streetscape improvements along General Washington Memorial Boulevard (Route 532.)

The money comes through the Commonwealth’s Multimodal Transportation Fund and administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

“Upper Makefield Township, as home to Washington Crossing Historic Park, will play a critical role in our region’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary in 2026,” said Santarsiero. “These improvements will enhance a key roadway around the park, benefiting both residents and tourists.”

“This state grant program will improve and beautify the historic and downtown area of Washington Crossing and support tourism and the local economy,” said State Rep. Warren, a Democrat who represents the area.

In addition to the Upper Makefield Township grant, other nearby grants were awarded to:

  • Lower Makefield Township: $550,000 for improvements to Taylorsville Road
  • Yardley Borough: $278,712 for Dolington Road sidewalk extension
  • Morrisville Borough: $247,444 for ADA accessibility improvements
