Construction is moving forward on a new Wawa convenience store and gas station in Newtown Township.
The construction site is at the intersection of the Newtown Bypass and Lower Silver Lake Road.
Crews were recently seen erecting the canopy for the gas pumps at the 4.95-acre site.
The 5,585-square-foot store will feature six fuel pumps.
The development follows a settlement agreement between Wawa and the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors, which ended a legal dispute over the proposed project. The agreement was reported by NewtownPANow.com in June 2023.
Supervisor John Mack revealed last year that Wawa has agreed to install solar panels on both sides of the gas pump canopy.
The Wawa project has been a source of controversy within the township for several years.
