McGerks Pub and Grill has opened its doors at the Summit Square Shopping Center after a year of construction.

The new location welcomed its first customers last Thursday and celebrated the St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

The Middletown Township restaurant and bar is the chain’s first in Bucks County.

McGerks Pub and Grill fills the space formerly occupied by Manny Brown’s, which closed in late 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Plans for a Mexican restaurant and bar at the location fell through before McGerks took over.

McGerks is known for its menu featuring Philadelphia cheesesteaks, jumbo crab pretzels, tempura pickles, and nachos. Each of its eight locations offers a selection of local craft beers and cocktails. The Middletown Township location features interior decor with large images from Philadelphia sports history.

Founded in 2000 by John and Paul Dolaway, McGerks Pub and Grill is named after John Dolaway’s three daughters. The name is derived from the first initials of their first and middle names, arranged to form “MaGerk.”

The chain has locations in the Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Greensboro, North Carolina, areas and continues to expand.
