A Lower Makefield Township man is facing charges after allegedly targeting three individuals for their support of President Donald Trump.
The incidents, which police said occurred between October 30 and November 1 involved the placement of screws, nails, and bolts at the homes and workplace of the victims he suspected or knew were supporters of the Republican politician.
One incident occurred on October 30 when a victim reported finding a mixture of nails, screws, and bolts strewn across the base of his driveway along Newtown-Yardley Road in the township, police said.
Another incident happened on October 31 at McCaffrey’s Food Market on Heacock Road in Lower Makefield Township. The victim found 12 screws scattered under and around her parked vehicle between 7 a.m. and 1:59 p.m., police said.
Police attempted to gather evidence through surveillance footage, but the footage was too pixelated to identify any suspects, according to court papers.
The victim had reported a similar incident earlier in July 2024, police said.
The victim had displayed several Trump signs and inflatables, and police collected the items as evidence, police said.
Additionally, the victim had previously received a harassing letter critical of his Trump support, police said.
A report on February 17 indicated more nails were scattered on the same property, police said.
On November 1, another victim reported finding screws near his driveway on Clinton Drive in the township, police said.
The victim’s tire was punctured by one of the nails, resulting in $608 in damages, police said.
Police noted in court papers that the screws found at this location were consistent with those found at the other two sites.
After several months of investigation, Lower Makefield Township investigators identified the suspect as Alaric Dalberg, 63, of Lower Makefield Township.
Surveillance video captured Dalberg, who is also known as “Rick,” throwing nails near the vehicle of the victim multiple times between January and February, authorities said.
Dalberg’s vehicle and his McCaffrey’s Food Market store card were traced back to him during the investigation, police said.
Dalberg, when questioned by police, admitted to the acts but initially denied knowing the victims. He later explained that his actions were motivated by his strong dislike for Trump, investigators said.

Dalberg acknowledged throwing nails at or near the victims’ vehicles, even in empty parking spots, in hopes of causing damage. He also admitted to targeting victims who displayed Trump signs, calling it “dumb and stupid” and apologized for his actions, police said.
Police recovered 72 nails and one screw from Dalberg’s vehicle, which were found to match those discovered at the scenes of the incidents.
Around the 2024 election, Lower Makefield Township police reported a number of cases of criminal mischief and vandalism believed to be linked to the election.
Dalberg received a court summons with 28 charges, including harassment and criminal mischief, according to court records.
