A 75-year-old driver crashed an Audi sport vehicle into a Newtown Township restaurant Wednesday morning, police said.

Newtown Township police responded to the Dragon of Newtown at 25 Swamp Road at 10:22 a.m. after receiving a report of a one-vehicle crash.

Authorities determined the driver went over a curb, through shrubs, and struck a support beam before crashing into the closed restaurant, Chief of Police John Hearn said.

No injuries were reported at the scene, Hearn said.

Newtown Fire Rescue and Newtown Township Code Enforcement were dispatched to the scene to assess the building’s structural integrity and any potential safety hazards before the vehicle’s removal.

Police said the cause of the collision is under investigation, but it appears to be accidental.

The vehicle was towed from the scene, and the property was released back to the owner.
