Voter Turnout Neared 50% In Election

Bucks County voters showed interest in Tuesday’s races, which included contests for state, county, municipal, and school board offices.

The county recorded 238,847 ballots cast, which equaled a 49.6 percent turnout from the 481,514 registered voters, according to county election data.

The level of participation in the municipal election marks the highest turnout for a municipal election in Bucks County this century. It surpassed the 42.65 percent turnout of the 2023 municipal election and the 40.7 percent turnout in 2021. The lowest municipal turnout this century for the county was 24.18 percent in 2013.

While significantly higher than the 25.95 percent turnout for the May primary, Tuesday’s participation was much lower than the 81.79 percent seen last November during the presidential election.

The Pennsylvania Department of State reported that as of Oct. 6, voter registration in Bucks County included 192,357 Democrats, 202,658 Republicans, and 85,839 voters registered with no party or another affiliation.

Mail-in and absentee ballots were requested by 53,035 Democrats, 27,317 Republicans, and 9,585 voters with a third party or no party affiliation, data released Monday by the Bucks County Board of Elections showed.
