Students from various technical schools in Bucks, Delaware, and Montgomery counties competed in the 2016 SkillsUSA District 2 Competitions, hosted by the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology on February 2-3, 2016.  Additional competitions were held at alternate career and technology centers, including Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT), on January 26th, 27th, 29th, and February 2nd.

MBIT had 52 competitors participating who earned a total of 36 medals: 8 gold medal winners, 11 silver medal winners, and 17 bronze medal winners.  Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded in 31 competitions including: auto service specialization, cosmetology, early childhood, information technology services, job interview, and technical drafting. Five students from Council Rock’s two high schools placed in the top of the skill set.

SkillsUSA is the national organization for students in trade, industrial, and technical education.  SkillsUSA district competitions provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate skills mastered in their technical programs.  Leadership activities such as public speaking, job interview, and parliamentary procedures allowed students to demonstrate their understanding of functioning in a democratic society.  Individuals from business, industry, and education were on hand to judge the various competitions.
