Police Log: Theft At High School, House Egged & More

February 19

Theft

At approximately 2 p.m., a student of Council Rock High School North made contact with the School Resource Officer on campus to report that someone took her cell phone from a classroom. The victim provided the officer with the name of a fellow student she suspected may have taken the phone.  The phone was located, but the situation remains under investigation.

Fraud

A victim of credit card fraud called Newtown Township Police around 2 p.m. to report fraudulent purchases made on his debit card, which is still in his possession.  The card was used at McCaffrey’s Market, the Acme Market and Staples, all in Newtown.  The total amount charged was $220.36 and the victim said that his bank has opened an investigation as well.

Vandalism

A resident of Valley View Way called police at approximately 10:50 p.m. to report that someone had thrown eggs hitting her house.  The responding officer did observe several broken eggs along the house near a vehicle parked in the driveway.

February 21

Vandalism

While on patrol on the Newtown Bypass, an officer initiated a traffic stop just before 2 a.m. for a vehicle code violation.  At the stop the driver was identified as 32-year-old Vincent Stasik of Highland Park Drive in Levittown.  The officer the opinion that Stasik was operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and incapable of safe driving.  Stasik was taken into custody and transported to Saint Mary Medical Center where he agreed to a blood draw.  The blood will be submitted to NMS Lab for analysis.  Satsik was released to his father at the hospital.

February 22

Attempted Fraud

At approximately 11:30 a.m., police spoke with a Newtown Township resident who reported that there had been an attempt to open a credit card using his personal information.  The resident said that he received a letter from the credit card company advising him of the attempt, but also informed him that the attempt hadn’t been completed.

Fraud

Shortly before 4 p.m., a Newtown Township resident came into headquarters to report fraudulent activity on her credit card.  The victim told police that her card was used in New York on February 21 for purchases exceeding $2,000.  The victim did report this transaction to company’s Fraud Department and wanted to police to beware as well.

February 23

Fraud

A resident of Newtown Township reported that he was the victim of fraud. The victim said that an attempt to open a credit card in his name earlier this month and on February 22 he received written notification from the IRS that an unknown individual had attempted to file taxes using his name.  The victim did contact the credit bureaus and police advised him to notify his banks.
