The Newtown Township skate park is scheduled to be closed this week.

According to the township’s Parks & Recreation department, the skate park will be closed Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16. The closing, according to Kathy Pawlenko, is needed to install new enclosures around the ramps and provide general maintenance to improve the park.

The park, which sits behind Staples and Bed, Bath & Beyond in the Village of Newtown, is located adjacent to the Newtown Bypass.

All of the improvements being made this week are weather permitting, according to officials.

The park was originally supposed to be closed April 14 and 15, but a delay in equipment delivery prompted the change in dates, according to township officials.
