A special “Black and White Dinner” to support the historic Newtown Theatre will be held on State Street this fall.
The Newtown Borough Council recently approved a special events application for the Black and White Dinner that will be held on State Street outside the country’s oldest operating movie house on Saturday, September 24 from 6:30 p.m. until 10 p.m.
Organizers explained how the event will work:
Here is how the night works: Guests are asked to dress only in black and white and bring everything they need for an elegant dinner under the stars, including a picnic dinner, tables, chairs, and black and white décor. Upon arrival, guests will line up their tables and chairs down the middle of North State Street and join others for dinner, live music, and other entertainment. Prizes will be awarded for best dressed man, best dressed woman, and best decorated table. After dinner, attendees may head into the theatre for a screening of Frank Capra’s 1934 classic “It Happened One Night” starring Clark Gable.
Tickets for the Black and White Dinner are $75 per couple and all proceeds will help support the nonprofit Newtown Theatre.
The event is rain or shine.
