An exciting, traveling art museum is coming to Newtown this week.

‘Structures & Stories: Contemporary Book Arts in Artmobile’ is an art museum for all ages, which will be housed in a 48-foot trailer. The traveling museum visits 13 school districts and many public sites throughout Bucks County from September to June. The Bucks County Community College’s Newtown campus will host the public exhibit on Wednesday, September 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Artmobile, which will be parked next to the Music & Multimedia Center, will feature three dozen culturally diverse artists, many of national stature, who have contributed 70-plus works that explore themes of home, family, community, ethnicity, race, gender and identity. A rotating selection of artists’ “zines” tackle issues from the serious to the absurd.

Structures and Stories investigates artists’ books in expressive and unique structures – from traditional scroll, accordion and codex, to pop-up, tunnel and carousel books. The public is invited to the free event, which will allow them to experience the artists’ personal stories.
