Special roving DUI patrols in Bucks County kept patrol officers busy over the recent holiday weekend.

The extra patrols Bensalem, Doylestown, Middletown, New Britain, Newtown, Upper Southampton, Warrington and Warwick townships over the Labor Day weekend led to 132 vehicles stops and 12 arrests. Officials from the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office said 10 of the arrests were for DUI and the other two were for drug possession and a warrant.

The patrols were part of a grant-funded DUI program. The grant money through PennDOT and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in cooperation with the PA DUI Association, pay for the officers salaries and equipment used during the DUI patrols.

Officials said Bucks County hosts the oldest county-wide DUI enforcement program in the state.
