A body found Tuesday at Tyler State Park is believed to be that of a missing Bensalem woman.

Lindsey Piccone, 21, of Bensalem, was last seen on the evening of September 6 and her car was found in the Newtown Township portion of the 1,700-acre state park that also sits in Northampton and Wrightstown.

Bensalem police said the remains were discovered by a staff member at Tyler State Park as they were clearing vegetation.

Pennsylvania State Police and Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources investigators remained at the park as of Tuesday afternoon to continue their probe into the case.

Trained searchers on foot, volunteer searchers, police helicopters, a dive team and search dogs all have taken part in the search since September. The most recent search took place in mid-October and turned up no leads.

Despite the best efforts of Piccone’s family and search teams, the case drew plenty of attention but few leads.

Piccone’s family said she left a note before she disappeared. The note reportedly was “very vague” and did not state if the 21 year old planned to run away or harm herself.

Police said Piccone’s family was notified shortly after the discovery.
