A Bristol Township-based credit union will move their headquarters to Newtown Township this year.

Officials from Inspire Federal Credit Union, which operates branches on Bath Road in Bristol and East Lincoln Highway in Middletown, announced Tuesday that they will be adding a branch and relocating their headquarters to the three-story office building at 3 Friends Lane. The building was previously occupied by Univest.

“Our new location and facilities will be more centrally located in the heart of Bucks County, conveniently located to many major roadways, allowing us to expand access and convenience,”said Jim Merrill, Inspire’s president and CEO.

The credit union said they purchased the building due to their growth in the Bucks County market over the past several years. Inspire was previously named Bucks First Federal Credit Union and has been in operation since 1936.

“The new building at 3 Friends Lane, Newtown will provide a better work environment for staff and allow Inspire FCU to continue to add staff as needed to support our growth,” Merrill said.

Brian Phillips, assistant vice president of relationship development, said the company is expected to add jobs as the branch opens and as the credit union expands.

Inspire currently has more than 14,000 members.
