Newtown Township has promoted three of its police officers.
The lawmen were sworn into their new ranks by District Judge Mick Petrucci as a Board of Supervisors meeting earlier this month.
Christian Joseph was promoted from corporal to sergeant. He has been a police officer for 18 years and previously served with the New Hope and Northampton police departments. Joseph serves as a fielding training officer and is on the Bucks County Major Incident Response Team and a the township honor guard.
Jason Harris was promoted from corporal overseeing criminal investigations to detective sergeant. He previously worked with Newtown Borough police before being hired by the township. During his time with the township, Harris has played a large role in the police department obtaining the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association’s Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation.
Officer Patrick Hardy was promoted to corporal. Hardy, who was reportedly disciplined for connection to a summer incident involving an off-duty sheriff’s deputy, came to Newtown Township on 2006 after working with a regional Virginia police department. He is a member of the motorcycle unit and the South Central Emergency Response Team.
