The Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA) has named a new director.
Steve Doerner, who was formerly a victim advocate coordinator, will now head the Bucks County Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), a program operated by NOVA.
“Steve brings his knowledge and experience of the criminal justice system to the post of director at the Bucks CAC,” says Penny Ettinger, executive director of NOVA. “In his former position as the victim advocate coordinator, Steve worked closely with the CAC. His familiarity with the Center’s objectives and processes make this transition much easier for all the team members that make up the CAC.”
Doerner, who was hired in 2012, began as a secondary education coordinator and oversaw NOVA’s prevention education and safety programs for students middle school through college aged. More recently, as a victim advocate coordinator, Doerner supervised victim advocate staff, managed case assignment and ensured advocate service standards were met. He was also responsible for providing outreach and support during criminal justice procedures to victims and their non-offending family members.
Doerner, a Doylestown resident, graduated from Central Bucks West and Delaware Valley University.
The CAC program, which was established in 2008, seeks to develop and oversee a coordinated, multidisciplinary and comprehensive response to reports of suspected child sexual and physical abuse, according to a recent release.
