Democratic congressional candidate Scott Wallace received a boost Monday when the former president endorsed him.

The Democratic multimillionaire’s campaign pounced on the opportunity and posted the news to their social media accounts and sent out a fundraising email to supporters.

Wallace issued the following statement:

“I’m deeply honored to receive Barack Obama’s endorsement. He has been an inspiration to me and to millions of people around the world. His time in office changed the course of American politics and created a country that is more equal and inclusive for all. It is heart-wrenching to see his legacy being unraveled by Donald Trump and the Republican members of Congress, but I refuse to let their corporate agenda go unchecked any longer. It’s time we have a representative who protects the rights of the people instead of the special interests. In Congress, I pledge to work every day to bring us back to President Obama’s vision of a forward-moving America — an America where government works on behalf of the people rather than the corporate special interests.”

Wallace’s endorsement comes in the second wave issued by Obama. It comes two weeks after the congressional candidate from Central Bucks County joined the former two-term Democratic president on stage at a pre-election rally in Philadelphia.

Obama endorsed 260 Democratic candidates in a variety of races. He also threw his support behind Democratic state senate candidate Steve Santarsiero. In August, Obama endorsed State Rep. Tina Davis in her bid for state senate.

“Today, I’m proud to endorse even more Democratic candidates who aren’t just running against something, but for something—to expand opportunity for all of us and to restore dignity, honor, and compassion to public service. They deserve your vote,” Obama said in a tweet.

Fitzpatrick’s campaign hit back and noted the Republican congressman’s endorsements.

“Congressman Fitzpatrick was ranked #1 Most Independent Freshman Congressman in the Nation, earning the endorsements of the AFL-CIO Working Family Unions, our Law Enforcement, our First Responders, our School Teachers, and elected Democrats like Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, demonstrating his bipartisan approach to governing. The fact that Scott Wallace can only obtain endorsements from his own political party says all that needs to be said about his extremely partisan nature, which is the precise cause of all of our nation’s problems,” said Genevieve Malandra, Spokeswoman, Team Fitzpatrick,” campaign spokesperson Genevieve Malandra said.
