Newtown Township police are investigating several reports of counterfeit currency being passed at four stores in the Village at Newtown Shopping Center on Monday.

The incidents occurred at MOD Pizza, Chipotle, Chopt, and Crumbl Cookies in the shopping center, prompting authorities to respond at around 7:30 p.m.

Officials have not disclosed the amount of counterfeit money involved or how many bills were passed.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing and police are urging residents and businesses to take precautions. They advise reviewing educational materials on how to detect counterfeit currency and contacting local authorities if they suspect they have collected fake bills.

Counterfeit currency is a federal crime and can carry serious consequences.
