Newtown Borough police Chief James Sabath relayed to the public and council this week the incidents handled by the department in February.

Sabath said officers in the borough handled three crashes that didn’t have serious injuries last month. They arrested a 63-year-old Newtown Township man for DUI after he struck a parked vehicle on Lincoln Avenue.

Borough police arrested a person this month for stealing wine from the Fine Wine and Good Spirits store on South State Street. Sabath explained that the same person stole two bottles of wine in February and was being sought for the thefts.

“The person stole the same bottle of wine every time,” he said.

In his report to Newtown Borough Council, the chief said three public drunkenness arrests were made on South State Street last month. Those arrested were a 44-year-old Yardley man, a 26-year-old Newtown man, and a 25-year-old Philadelphia woman.
