The family and friends of a young woman who was killed on Friday were mourning this weekend.

Jaden Kylie Battista, 19, who was from Bristol Township’s Croydon section, was identified as the young woman who police said was stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend in Lower Makefield Township.

Jeanie Millward, Battista’s mother, confirmed the identity as the family deals with the impact of the attack.

Police identified the attacker as Battista’s ex-boyfriend, 23-year-old Trevor Weigel, of Northampton Township’s Churchville section.

Responding to a 9-1-1 call just before 2:30 p.m., officers found Weigel in the act of stabbing 19-year-old Jaden Kylie Battista in the Brook Stone condo complex on Waterford Road off Township Line Road. As officers rushed in, Weigel fled the scene, stabbing himself numerous times, according to Lower Makefield Township Police Chief Ken Coluzzi.

The foot chase led Weigel onto I-295 where he was taken into custody after running a short distance.

Battista was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Weigel was transported to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown Township with serious injuries. He underwent surgery Friday evening.

Authorities confirmed on Saturday that he is expected to survive.

The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office announced that charges against Weigel will be filed in the future.

Coluzzi described the incident as “an apparent domestic” situation.

Millward expressed shock about the crime that took her daughter’s life.

In a comment, she said of Weigel: “He took my reason for breathing. My entire life. He took my daughter from my husband and I, he took my other daughters’ sister. I want to look him in the eye and let him know the reality of what he’s done to our family and I want him to live with it every second of every day. I hope she haunts him.”

Battista had been residing in the complex with her grandmother.

Bucks County Detectives and law enforcement from Lower Makefield and Newtown townships were on the scene into Friday night.
