The Newtown Business Association will be spreading holiday cheer with its annual Holiday Parade this Sunday.
The parade is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. from South State Street at the Stocking Works.
Parade-goers will watch as the procession moves north towards Washington Avenue, making a left turn, and then a right onto Sycamore Street.
The parade, which will feature community groups, businesses, and holiday cheer, will conclude at the corner of Sycamore Street and Durham Road.
Due to the expected large turnout, attendees are advised to arrive early to secure viewing spots as parking will be limited.
Parking restrictions will take effect starting at 11 a.m., according to police.
- No parking on South State Street from Penn Street to Washington Avenue.
- No parking on North Sycamore Street from Washington Avenue to Durham Road.
Those parked in the Newtown Borough municipal parking lots will be directed to exit via Centre Avenue and head west toward Sycamore Street.
Several road closures will be in place for pedestrian safety beginning at 1:20 p.m.:
- South State Street from Barclay Street to Greene Street.
- Washington Avenue from Chancellor Street to Sycamore Street.
- North Sycamore Street from Washington Avenue to Durham Road.
Additionally, the Jefferson Street Bridge, Washington Avenue Bridge, and Centre Avenue Bridge will be closed at the start of the parade.
For those attending any events at the Newtown Theatre, access will remain open on North State Street at Jefferson Street for local traffic only.
