A 17-year-old boy was charged as an adult after he allegedly stabbed his mother’s boyfriend last Friday night, according to court papers.

Newtown Township police were dispatched to the unit block of Princess Lane at 11:22 p.m. for a report of a stabbing. Officers arrived to find an adult male bleeding from multiple stab and slash wounds.

The man was transported by ambulance to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown Township for treatment.

Hospital staff told police the man had six knife wounds, including one on his right forehead near his eye, police said.

The man’s girlfriend, who was at the scene, told officers her teenage son had stabbed him and might still be inside the home, police said.

An officer entered the residence and found blood on a bed in the master bedroom, police said.

At 11:25 p.m., an officer was flagged down on Hidden Valley Lane by a teenage boy.

The boy told the officer that a man who had been fighting with his mother was intoxicated and had tried to choke him. The boy said the man had been violent in the past and “I will do anything to protect my mom,” according to police.

Detectives later interviewed the boy’s mother, who said her boyfriend had been drinking and came up to a room where the couple argued about the boy. The boy then entered, sprayed his mother’s boyfriend with bug spray and began stabbing him with a small kitchen knife. According to the mother, the boy said during the stabbing that he had wanted to stab the man for some time, police stated

The 17-year-old boy, who was not identified because he is a minor, told detectives he heard his mother and her boyfriend fighting. He said he grabbed bug spray and a knife, and claimed his mother had to restrain her boyfriend before a physical confrontation began and the stabbing occurred, police said.

The boy was charged with two counts of aggravated assault. He was jailed Saturday afternoon by on-call District Judge Stacy Wertman on $100,000 bail, and was bailed out Monday after posting 10 percent of the amount.
