Police from Lower Makefield and Newtown townships detained a person Tuesday morning after a traffic stop on the Newtown Bypass.

The incident began at approximately 9:40 a.m. when officers stopped a vehicle for “numerous traffic violations,” according to a statement from police.

The stop resulted in a large police presence along the Newtown Bypass and Sycamore Street, law enforcement officials said.

Police confirmed that the subject was taken into custody.

There is “no active threat to our communities,” police said.

A reader in the area reported seeing numerous police vehicles following a car.
