A 29-year-old Trenton man was arrested after he tried to avoid police.

Upper Makefield police said they were alerted by Hamilton Township, New Jersey, police that a stolen black Honda Accord with Johnathon A. Loran, 29, and woman inside was headed on General Washington Memorial Boulevard in the township at a high rate while swerving around other cars last Thursday evening.

Officers responded to the Crossing Cooperative Nursery School on Lord Sterling Road and found the stolen vehicle. A witness told officers Loran and woman fled the scene on foot, police said.

At around 6:40 p.m., police said they learned Loran had just abandoned a bicycle nearby and got in a Kia headed on northbound River Road.

Newtown Township and Lower Makefield officers found the Kia a short distance away on Taylorsville Road at 6:43 p.m. A traffic stop was conducted and Loran tried to flee on foot, police said.

A day later Seasons Garden Center on River Road reported a burglary. Police said they determined Loran was behind the forced-entry burglary.

Loran was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property, theft, possession of a controlled substance, use of drug paraphernalia, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was arraigned and sent to Bucks County prison on 10 percent of $50,000.

Editor’s Note: All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The story was compiled using information from police and public court documents.
