Police Log: 14 Pairs Of Expensive Jeans Stolen, Counterfeit Checks Deposited & More

April 13

Theft From Vehicle

Police were dispatched to a Thornbury Lane residence just after 9:30 a.m. for the report of a theft from a vehicle. Upon arrival, police met with the victim who stated that either sometime during the night or sometime that morning someone entered her vehicle and stole her handbag. The victim’s vehicle was unlocked and parked in her garage at the time, and the garage door had been left open periodically.  Officers processed the scene. The total value of loss is approximately $50.

Fraud

At approximately 11 a.m., police were dispatched to Provident Bank for the report of fraud. Upon arrival, police spoke to two employees who explained that a suspect had deposited several counterfeit checks. Investigation is ongoing.

April 14

Criminal Mischief

Shortly after 1:15 p.m., police responded to a Cambridge Lane residence for the report of criminal mischief to the resident’s vehicle. Police met with the victim and examined the damage which included several scratches on the hood of the vehicle and the driver’s side door. Investigation is ongoing.

Retail Theft

Around 3 p.m., the store manager of Anthropologie filed a report of retail theft with the police. The manager reported that someone stole 14 pairs of jeans during the end of business hours the day prior or sometime that morning.  The total value of loss is $2,492.

April 19

Phone Scam

A Newtown Township resident contacted police around 1 p.m. to report an incident with an IRS phone scam. The complainant, a senior citizen, was concerned when the caller said that the complainant was about to be arrested and needed to go to court. Police assured the complainant that the call was not authentic and that the IRS never telephones taxpayers.
