Although George Washington’s birthday isn’t until Monday, Washington Crossing Historic Park in Upper Makefield will be celebrating the first president’s birthday a day early.

Turning 284 this year, George Washington will again celebrate his birthday with a public celebration at the popular historic park. The party, running from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday, will include children’s activities in the visitor center and around the park.

At 2 p.m., the guests will sing happy birthday to the general himself, who is portrayed by John Godzieba. Afterwords, he will take his saber to the cake in order to cut it up for everyone in attendance.

In order to properly commemorate Washington, kids are encouraged to bring home made cards for the great general.

Admission to the birthday bonanza costs $1. It is located at the Washington Crossing Historic Park at 1112 River Road, Washington Crossing. The park can be reached at 215-493-4076 for more information.
