Father-and-son restaurateurs Drew and Andrew Abruzzese are expanding their Big Q BBQ concept to the Newtown area.

The Abruzzeses have announced they are launching a takeout and catering Big Q BBQ location at the Pineville Tavern in Wrightstown, which the family also owns and operates. The first Big Q BBQ location is currently located at Woodbourne and Bristol-Oxford Valley roads in Levittown.

“We decided to open this takeout store after hearing so many grumblings from our friends in Newtown, Yardley and Solebury Township who told us they loved our fried chicken and barbecue but didn’t want to drive all the way to Levittown to get their fix,” Andrew Abruzzese said.

The new Big Q BBQ takeout and catering location at the Pineville Tavern on Durham Road will let customers purchase all the same items that are on the menu at the Levittown location.

To celebrate the expansion of Big Q BBQ, the Abruzzeses will be offering free Fried Chicken Lunchboxes at the Pineville and Levittown locations between noon and 2 p.m. Wednesday. The giveaway will include three pieces of fried chicken.

Big Q BBQ opened in Levittown in 2015 and has grown over the past year. Recently, the eatery gained national attention for its Sam Bradford sandwich.

The Big Q BBQ counter at the Pineville Tavern will be open  Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m,
