When the new I-95 Scudders Falls Bridge that connects Bucks County to New Jersey is finished in 2019, motorists are expected to be paying a toll.

The new toll will cost between $.75 and $8.35 and will be captured an electronic system that is cashless. The price depends on several factors which include whether you have an E-ZPass and the size of your vehicle, with large trucks paying the most.

Passenger vehicles with E-ZPass will pay $1.25 and those without E-ZPass will receive a $2.60 bill for every trip across the Delaware River. Drivers who have a Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) E-ZPass and make at least 16 tolled trips per month will be billed $.75 per trip.

“The Commission directed staff to tamp down the toll rates for this new bridge as much as possible,” said Joseph J. Resta, the Commission’s executive director. “The $1.25 base E-ZPass toll and 75-cent E-ZPass commuter-discount toll are in keeping with this goal, especially given the scope and complexity of the upcoming bridge replacement project.”

With the bulk of the work to replace the aging bridge to begin in 2017, the tolls will go into effect once the new span opens in 2019, officials said.

The DRJTBC is soliciting the public’s thoughts during a public hearing on July 21 at William Penn Middle School on Derbyshire Road in Lower Makefield. The event will start with a project open house at 4:30 p.m. and a toll hearing at 6 p.m.
