The Newtown Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores will be offering extended hours starting Sunday.

As part of the Act 39 liquor reform that took effect recently, Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board-operated stores are permitted to have extended hours on Sunday, which was a rarity until recently. Under the new law, the Newtown store on Centre Avenue will be open Sundays from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. The store was previously open on Sundays but only from noon to 5 p.m.

By September, about half of all Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores will be open on Sundays and expanded hours will impact 188 locations that already featured limited Sunday hours.

“The PLCB will continually monitor and adjust store hours as consumer purchasing patterns evolve, particularly during the holiday season when store traffic is highest,” a statement from state officials said.

In addition to expanded hours, Fine Wine and Good Spirits stores in Pennsylvania are now allowed to sell state lottery tickets. The new kiosks are being installed in the state’s roughly 600 stores.

The PLCB is now permitted to offer customer loyalty programs as part of Act 39. Officials said they will continue to explore options that will allow customers to participate in loyalty programs.
