Don’t be worried if you see or hear the Emergency Alert System take over your screen or radio Wednesday.
The nationwide test of the system “designed to assess the President’s ability to send a message to the American people within 10 minutes of a disaster” is set for 2:20 p.m. Wednesday.
Department of Homeland Security officials said in a statement that Americans should not be alarmed when the test commences. The test is required by the FCC and FEMA.
The test is expected to last less than one minute.
