Newtown Borough officials have lifted a three-hour parking restriction in some areas due to the holiday shopping season.

Earlier this month, Newtown Borough Council approved Mayor Charles “Corky” Swartz’s plan to remove the time limits on parking in the municipal parking lot and along State Street to help boost local shopping and dining.

The free parking without time limits will be available Thursday, December 22 through Saturday, December 24 and Thursday, December 29 through Saturday, December 31.

Council President Robert Walker reminded residents not to park in front of driveways or fire hydrants.
