UPDATED: Saturday, 4:04 p.m.:

Pennsylvania State Police allege a 47-year-old Washington Crossing man was connected to several suspected pipe bombs found Saturday morning in a Bristol Township motel room.

Troopers conducting a theft investigation went to the Village Lodge along Route 13 shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday and found what appeared to be pipe bombs, materials used to make explosives, drugs and drug paraphernalia while taking the Washington Crossing man into custody, state police said.

A press release from law enforcement said the apparent pipe bombs were “in plain view” of troopers.

State police took the man into custody on a warrant without incident and secured the scene.

Shortly after, the Pennsylvania State Police Hazardous Device and Explosive Section arrived to remove the alleged explosives and other evidence. The work of the specially trained troopers continued through Saturday morning.

Several customers of the motel said they saw police suited up and entering one of the rooms removing possible evidence.

The Washington Crossing man was not formally charged as of Saturday afternoon related to the bombs but was jailed on a warrant.

Bristol Township police, the Bucks County Rescue Squad and Third District Fire Company were on the scene.
