Newtown Man Fled Serious Crash, Cops Say


A 26-year-old Newtown man was to blame for a serious crash that he tried to flee, according to police.

The man, whose name was not released by authorities, was intoxicated when he caused a multi-vehicle crash at Stony Hill Road and the Newtown Bypass in Lower Makefield last Thursday around 9:45 p.m.. Several people were injured in the wreck, police said.

Following the crash, the 26 year old fled the scene and a K-9 unit was able to track the man down, police said.

The man was charged with DUI, failure to stop and give information or render aid, reckless driving, accident while not properly licensed and careless driving. He was arraigned by the on-call district judge and sent to county lock-up on 10 percent of $15,000.
