The Bucks County Recorder of Deeds has announced a large expansion of online deed records.

Working with vendor Landex, the office headed by Recorder of Deeds Robin Robinson has expanded the deeds available to the public online by 296 years.

Previous to Friday, only records from 1980 until today were available online. Previous deeds were not collected digitally.

“I’m very excited to open these deed records. I have been asked many times how those that do not live in the county can access our records,” Robinson said. “I understand that it is not always possible to visit the office.”

There are fees charged for use of the online system. Residents can still visit the Record of Deeds office and explore records at no cost at the Administration Building in Doylestown Borough.

Robinson said the online records will help those exploring of documents that date back to William Penn.

Robinson has spearheaded an effort to preserve deed books that date back to 1684. The deed books include land records and even information on slaves.
