Two new COVID-19 deaths were reported on Thursday.

A a 79-year-old man and an 82-year-old woman died. Both had underlying health conditions, said Dr. David Damsker, the county health director.

The total of deaths in Bucks County due to COVID-19 reached eight. All eight victims were older and had other health conditions.

The deaths came on top of 77 new COVID-19 tests that returned positive. Damsker said the increase was due to a backlog of testing from a private lab that came in.

Due to the delay, the onset of symptoms in some cases go back as far as three weeks, Damsker said.

As of Thursday night, 35 Bucks Countians were in the hospital, and 12 were in critical condition.

Earlier in the day, Damsker said he sees the peak of COVID-19 cases a few weeks out in the county. He also said hospitals are able to handle the number of cases so far.

Residents in 48 of Bucks County’s 54 municipalities have tested positive for COVID-19. Close to 70 residents have recovered from COVID-19.

Health officials in the county updated their online portal to reflect the distribution of COVID-19 cases by age range and gender. The data also shows the gender breakdown of hospitalized patients and charts the rise in the number of overall cases.
