PennDOT maintenance and contractor crews will begin filling potholes in the Newtown area next week.

The pothole repair work will take place on sections of Richboro Road, Durham Road (Route 413), the Newtown Bypass, and Washington Crossing Road in Newtown Township.

The pothole repair crews will restrict travel lanes on the road during the work.

Motorists are advised to be aware of the moving repair operation and expect intermittent lane closures and possible slowdowns when driving near work crews.

PennDOT reminded drivers that all work is weather dependent.

To ensure the safety of both workers and motorists, PennDOT officials urged drivers to slow down in the work zone and refrain from distracted driving.

The pothole repair work in Newtown Township is part of regional efforts that will take place next week on 40 state roadways.

According to PennDOT, it has already used more than 970 tons of asphalt to repair potholes across the five-county Philadelphia region since the start of the year.

PennDOT has advised motorists to report potholes and other roadway concerns on state roads by calling 1-800-FIX-ROAD or visiting penndot.pa.gov and clicking on “Submit Concern.”
