Authorities confirmed they received reports from residents of an odor across parts of Lower Bucks County Wednesday.

Readers told NewtownPANow.com they smelled a persistent burnt plastic and chlorine smell outside in Langhorne Borough, Middletown Township, and Newtown Township.

Bucks County spokesperson James O’Malley confirmed the county’s emergency management agency had received calls from locals about the smell, but they had not located the source.

There were also reports of a similar smell in Montgomery County.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection was aware of the reports, a spokesperson confirmed.

“The DEP was notified about the odor and an Air Quality inspector was out this afternoon to meet with the complainant. We were not able to find anything,” said Stephanie Berardi, the agency’s regional spokesperson.
