Derrick Morinchin, the Wrightstown Township resident; Markeece Lamont Spencer, 32, of Philadelphia; Carlos Vega Jr., 27, of Philadelphia; Dominique Isiah Leary, 29, of Bensalem Township, were all charged this month after Bensalem Township police said they illegally possessed firearms at different occasions earlier this month.

Bensalem Township police said in a statement three of those arrested were a result of traffic stops and the fourth arrest was made during a policing detail at a local hotel.

In all four cases, a gun was reported to be seized.

Bensalem Township authorities said they have reported a 75 percent jump in gun seizures over the past two years.

“We continue to employ proactive details and techniques to get as many illegal guns off of the street as possible. We also continue to stop vehicles for minor traffic violations and enforce the laws of this Commonwealth. Many of our gun seizures are a result of our Patrol Division conducting traffic stops for the enforcement of minor traffic violations,” police said in their statement.

Editor’s Note: All individuals arrested or charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The story was compiled using information from police and public court documents.
