An inmate who escaped the custody of New Jersey authorities in Trenton last week was arrested in Lower Bucks County, according to authorities.
Last Friday afternoon, inmate Jessey Slater, 32, of Burlington County, New Jersey, escaped the custody of law enforcement while on a minimum-security work detail on Stuyvesant Avenue in Trenton.
Slater was later seen in Trenton and Ewing, both of which are across the Delaware River from Bucks County, according to authorities.
Lower Makefield Township police were called around 4:21 p.m. last Friday to the area of Clearview Drive and Hayfield Drive for a report on the escapee, who had been in the custody of the New Jersey Department of Corrections, police said.
A K-9 unit from Lower Makefield Township responded and assisted in the search, police said.
Slater was located in the woods between Woodside Road and Clearview Road. He was taken into custody as a fugitive from justice, police said.
Slater has been held in the Bucks County Correctional Facility on a single charge of arrest prior to requisition.
Authorities didn’t release why Slater was in the custody of New Jersey authorities.
