In the wake of July’s major flash flooding event, Wrightstown Township officials are taking mitigation measures.

The township plans to move forward with stormwater mitigation work on Pheasant Lane and Robin Road.

The supervisors voted earlier this month to put plans in place to update pipe sizes, add some pipes, and fix an inlet and swales.

Township Manager Stacey Mulholland said several homes along Pheasant Lane and Robin Road dealt with stormwater from the heavy rain event. The storm pushed brick and large rocks through properties.

Speaking on the proposed work in existing right-of-ways, Township Engineer Cindy VanHise said it should elevate some flooding-related problems.

“I do believe that this would be a great improvement,” VanHise said.

Work was already planned along Pheasant Lane, and the additional improvements will complement that project, officials said.

“It sort of all ties together,” Mulholland said.

The township plans to reach out to residents to inform them of the plan.

Last month, supervisors discussed how the flash flooding made conditions worse along Cedar Lane.

The flooding and previous rain events have eroded the bank along the roadway.

VanHise said at the time that the repairs needed “immediate attention.”

One issue the project has run into is related to easements to properties along Cedar Lane, according to Supervisors Chairperson Chester Pogonowski.
