A death in Wrightstown Township has been ruled a homicide.

Richard MacFarland, 72, was discovered deceased in his residence last Saturday, October 7 in Wrightstown Township, according to the Bucks County Coroner. The location of MacFarland’s home was not released.

The cause of death was revealed as multiple stab and slash wounds, according to Coroner Meredith Buck.

“His manner of death is determined to be homicide,” she stated.

Along with the coroner’s office, the Newtown Township Police Department, which patrols Wrightstown Township, and the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office were investigating the homicide.

Manuel Gamiz, a spokesperson for the district attorney, said there is no threat to the public.

No charges appeared to be filed in the case as of Friday.

It was not immediately clear why the township or district attorney’s office didn’t announce that a homicide occurred.
