Newtown Township’s Borscht Belt Delicatessen is slated to launch a location in the St. Mary Medical Center cafeteria in Middletown Township

The New York-style Jewish deli will operate in the hospital’s cafeteria during the morning to early afternoon. The grand opening will be Monday, November 13.

Patrons can expect a menu featuring New York City’s Ess-a-bagels, classic deli sandwiches, and a range of specialty items.

Hospital officials touted the addition as a significant upgrade to their food service offerings.

“We are thrilled to offer a variety of delicious new menu offerings from The Borscht Belt Delicatessen right here in the St. Mary Medical Center cafeteria,” said Suzette Cunicelli, vice president of professional and Support Services at St. Mary Medical Center. “Just as we strive to provide the highest level of patient care possible, we also prioritize the patient experience. The convenient availability of high-quality food options is a big part of that experience.”

Nick Liberato, chef and co-founder of the Borscht Belt, brings his culinary prestige from television and a Los Angeles catering career back to Bucks County.

After launching the original Borscht Belt Delicatessen in Stockton, New Jersey, in June 2021, the establishment relocated to South Eagle Road in Newtown Township in spring 2023.

“At The Borscht Belt Delicatessen, we’re excited to join forces with St. Mary Medical Center, bringing some favorites from our menu to their cafeteria,” Liberato said. “We’re here to provide the hospital with the comfort that great food provides.”

The deli’s concept, conceived by Liberato and Mike Dalewitz, emerged from a community desire in 2020 for familial, cultural, and authentic dining experiences, reminiscent of the nostalgic Borscht Belt era.

With their recent move, the founders said they have ambitions for franchising and growth for The Borscht Belt Delicatessen.
